SinergIA
Remote Sensing and Artificial Intelligence for Mapping Energy Crops in the Brazilian Semi-Arid Region
SinergIA is a major research initiative funded by CNPq (Brazil) dedicated to pioneering the use of Artificial Intelligence and high-resolution satellite data for the sustainable management of energy crops.
The project operates in the challenging Brazilian Semi-Arid Region, where traditional optical monitoring is often hindered by haze or extreme seasonality.
Key Objectives
- Multi-Sensor Fusion: Integrating Sentinel-1 SAR (microwave) and Sentinel-2 (optical) time series to overcome atmospheric limitations.
- Deep Learning for Agriculture: Implementing U-Net and Transformer architectures for precise segmentation of agricultural parcels.
- Monitoring Energy Crops: Focused on identifying crops with high biomass potential for the Brazilian energy matrix (2025–2027).
